I saw the article from Brian Armstrong and Mcafee’s tweet regarding privacy coins. I understand DigiByte will or has implemented the Dandelion protocol but is it good enough? Is something more robust like CTring a better solution or is it not possible? I personally like the idea of untraceable confidential transactions...

This is definitely something I can get into. I remember a few years ago when Diaspora tried to make a social media platform alternative to Facebook that allowed you to own your own data.
